Death wish on a plate: We try Brisbane’s new dangerously hot burger

They’re calling it the most unfinishable burger in Australia, so naturally, we had to try it. SEE THE HILARIOUS VIDEO

Taste test: Nashville Death Wish burger

Proclaimed the most unfinishable burger in Australia, the new Nashville Death Wish is so spicy that diners must sign a health and safety waiver before attempting it.

The chicken burger is the latest spice challenge laid down at Burger Urge stores nationally with an alarming level of tear-generating Aged Moruga Scorpion chilli – making it the hottest burger available in Australia.

Packing 2 million Scoville heat units, those brave enough to try it must don protective gloves and glasses.

Head chef at Burger Urge’s Windsor store Joel Chrystal said only “crazy souls” should attempt the new burger, which is 500 times hotter than tabasco sauce.

“Patrick from 13 Angry Scorpions has made this sauce and he’s had celebrities like Dave Grohl try it and cry on TV,” Mr Chrystal said.

“He makes a really good product but for only somebody that’s a chilli head.”

The dangerously hot burger pays homage to traditional Nashville hot chicken, complemented with jalapeños, pickles and crunchy slaw.

“Hot chicken was invented in one particular restaurant in Nashville after a wife basically screwed over her husband when he came home drunk after being out with other women,” Mr Chrystal said.

“There’s absolutely punishment and revenge there but the irony was, he left her and loved it and he started his own chicken shop.”

The first 20 daring diners able to finish the burger will receive an exclusive Death Wish keychain, with the burger available until July 27.
