After moving to Queensland eight years ago and taking the reigns at one of Noosa’s most famed restaurants, TV chef Peter Kuruvita has decided to leave.
The king of the kitchen is walking away from Noosa Beach House at Sofitel Noosa Pacific Hotel and will serve his last supper on September 30.
“It was a mutual decision between me and the hotel and it’s all very amicable,” he said.
Mr Kuruvita made the restaurant one of the most popular and most awarded in the tourist strip, adding influences from his Sri Lankan heritage to create stand out dishes like his signature snapper curry.
But he won’t be walking away from the kitchen for long, with plans instead to open a new restaurant in Noosa before Christmas.
“It’s a crazy time to do it, there’s a lot of risk, especially this late in my restaurant career... but this part is exciting, this part is invigorating,” he said.
While he is remaining tight-lipped on the exact details, he said the project will have many different elements while still keeping his loyal local clientele at its core.
