Its been the most widely gossiped about expansion in Brisbane’s hospitality industry, and now the powerhouse group behind some of the city’s hottest venues and Gourmet Travellers 2024 Restaurant of the Year have revealed the details of what is next for them.

Anyday Group, the hospitality group behind venues like Agnes, sAme sAme and honto have announced that their cult-favourite Agnes Bakery, nestled in an old Queenslander on James St, will close its doors and reopen up the road in New Farm as a brand new venue, Idle.

Idle will offer a full cafe experience, with a selection of cooked-to-order seasonal salads and dishes that go beyond the bakery’s signature offerings, as well as house-churned butters, sauces and marinades, that the team say will give their loyal customers a chance to take the flavours of Anyday home with them.

Agnes Bakery, which opened during Covid lockdowns, will remain open and operating until Idle opens its doors.

In the second quarter of 2025, the first venue of the enormous rumoured Anyday expansion will launch at 67 Edward Street in the CBD.

Named Golden Avenue, the Levantine and Middle Eastern inspired venue will draw on the vast combined experience of Anyday co-owner Ben Williamson and head chef Adam Wolfers, offering charcoal-grilled meats and seafood, hot and cold mezze and flatbreads to name a few.

Both Williamson and Wolfers were both previously star chefs at Middle Eastern favourite, Gerard’s in Fortitude Valley.

Just next door, at the heritage-listed 169 Mary Street, the group is set to launch two new restaurants and a cocktail bar, though the team is keeping mum on the details.
