HOG’S Breath Cafe’s 30th anniversary year is quickly becoming one to forget after another restaurant closure.
The Queensland franchise chain’s Coolangatta restaurant has been forced into administration with a second meeting of creditors to be held next Tuesday.

Administrators were appointed for La Meranda Pty Ltd, which formerly traded as Hog’s Breath Cafe Coolangatta, on March 27, about four weeks before the Hog’s Breath Steakhouse at Indooroopilly closed its doors.
Following the closure of the Coolangatta restaurant and the Broadbeach eatery in 2018, there are only two Hog’s Breath steakhouses remaining on the Gold Coast.
They are in the heart of the tourist precincts at Cavill Ave, Surfers Paradise, and Mariner’s Cove, Broadbeach.
The chain was already dealing with the closure of two outlets in Adelaide before the demise of Indooroopilly and Coolangatta, while the restaurant floor space at Aspley, on Brisbane’s northside, is being heavily downsized.
Of the two Adelaide eateries that closed, the Glenelg store is expected to within a couple of months, according to Hog’s Breath CEO Ross Worth.
“We are currently in negotiations with a prospective new owner, and are confident at the prospect of reopening our Glenelg restaurant in the coming months,” he said.
“We thank our Adelaide fans for their patience as we work through this process and are excited to be able to serve them again soon.”
The Indooroopilly restaurant closed almost a year to the day after the Petrie Terrace outlet, which had served meals for over two decades.
Hog’s Breath has been contacted for comment over the closure of the Coolangatta store.
