A Brisbane cafe destroyed by fire looking to open by end of year

A Rosalie cafe that was engulfed by fire and completely destroyed is hoping it will open doors by end of the year.

Iconic Brisbane deli destroyed by fire

The owner of Rosalie Gourmet Market and Cafe in Brisbane’s inner-west estimates it will be up to four months before they can reopen their cafe, which was damaged in an electrical fire just over a week ago.

The cafe at the popular foodie hub had just been renovated with a brand new kitchen and was only days away from launching when the fire destroyed its switchboard, the roof and caused smoke damage throughout the 40-50-seater space.

“It’s a bit of an inconvenience to say the least,” owner Rae Gough says.

Luckily the eatery was insured, but she says it will be between two to four months before they can reopen.

However, the gourmet market downstairs and catering arm of the business is still operating as per usual thanks to the use of an off-site commercial kitchen.

It’s been a rough few weeks for Brisbane’s deli scene with another fire destroying the iconic New Farm Deli, which is working hard to reopen in the coming months.
