Food delivery platform DoorDash launches in Brisbane

The largest on-demand food service in the United States is launching in Brisbane and there are plenty of incentives for restaurants and diners to taste the service.

IT’S a feast not a famine with a new food delivery service starting in Brisbane and Ipswich on Thursday.

Food delivery giant DoorDash is the largest on-demand food platform in the United States, and started in Melbourne and Sydney last year.

It will initially run only in the Brisbane CBD and inner city suburbs but has plans to expand to further suburbs and more Queensland cities.

The platform has a pick-up function, allowing users to collect their meals on the go at no extra cost, plus group ordering which makes it easy for large groups to order together.

Restaurants which have already signed up include Red Hook New York Street Food, Taro’s Ramen, Burger Urge and Brooklyn Depot, plus bigger franchises such as McDonald’s, Subway and Guzman y Gomez.

And there are plenty of incentives for restaurants and diners to taste the service.

There are no commissions on delivery and pick-up orders placed through the restaurant’s weblinks until the end of 2020; plus free delivery for all local restaurant orders every Saturday throughout June.

There’s also 10 per cent off a selection of restaurants from June 16 to June 30.

Plus, the 30 or $30 launch promotion promises that all orders made from the 30 or $30 selection will be delivered within 30 minutes or customers will receive up to $30 off their next order.

And finally for every delivery made until the end of the month 30, DoorDash will donate one meal to Foodbank Queensland.
