Olympic swimmer and Australian sporting darling Emma McKeon will swap her swim cap for couture this year, having been named Dior’s Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris ambassador. 

McKeon has won an astonishing 11 Olympic medals over her storied career as one of Australia’s finest athletes, and is a multi-world record holder. McKeon (who turns 30 today) goes into the Paris Olympics one of Australia’s strongest competitors. To mark the occasion, she will partner with luxury fashion house Dior for a collaboration based in excellence and perseverance—a partnership that will unfold in Dior’s own historic backyard. 

“I’m so excited to be partnering with such an iconic globally recognised brand,” McKeon told Vogue Australia exclusively, “It will make this Olympic Games extra special, being able to represent Dior and compete in their home town of Paris. It’s also an honour to be a part of such an amazing group of athlete ambassadors from all over the world, who I will now be cheering on (unless they’re up against Australia!).”

The Dior partnership is a natural choice for McKeon, who tells Vogue, that the “Dior woman is someone who dares to have big dreams, works hard for them to happen, and overcomes the obstacles that happen along the way.”

However, for McKeon, these Olympic Games will hold further significance. Although she is tipped as favourite in several of her categories, she has revealed that 2024 will be her last Olympic Games.

Speaking about what she’s most excited for, as the days count down, McKeon says, “Having my family there and being able to share the experience with them. They have been my biggest supporters in life and in my sporting career and I wouldn’t be who or where I am without them. I’m looking forward to celebrating with them after the competition and exploring Paris.”

Perhaps rare moments outside the pool will see McKeon visit one of Paris’ legendary Dior stores dotted around the City of Light. Her favourite piece in her current collection? “The 30 Montaigne bag.”
