10. Lady Marmalade
269 Logan Rd, Stones Corner
While you’ll find plenty of meat options at this relaxed and homely cafe, it’s the vegetarian options that have fans hooked. Their daily-changing French toast is loved by all, using pillowy soft fruit bread. The smashed avo on toasted pumpkin bread with Meredith Dairy goat’s curd is a favourite, as is their sweet corn and cheddar fritters with avocado and sour cream sauce, fennel and apple remoulade.

Equal 9th. Loving Hut
(Tied 9th) 2/1420 Logan Rd, Mt Gravatt
The Loving Hut promises delicious, healthy and environmentally friendly food at prices that are also easy on the conscience. The Mt Gravatt restaurant caters for its clean and safe, green and kind, and healthy philosophy with a menu that includes Loving Hut laksa, rawsome spaghetti and Beijing black bean.

9. Govinda’s
82 Vulture St, West End
All you can eat and drink for $12 is part of the pure vegetarian menu at Govinda’s. Picking between mixed vegetable curry, split mung dahl, koftas, pappadam, semolina fruit pudding and custard, and homemade ginger and mint lemonade, is all part of the Feast Meal Menu.

8. Jam Pantry
2/575 Logan Rd, Greenslopes
While not strictly a vegetarian eatery, this cute, suburban cottage cafe offers lots of exciting fare for those who choose to go meat-free. On owner Naomi Zavackas’s famous flip boards you’ll find everything from lime-zest rice pudding with crystallised ginger, feijoa and rosella jam to an omelette with honey and garlic roasted carrots, ricotta, brussels sprouts and parmesan.

7. Vegeme
9/220 Melbourne St, South Brisbane
The South Brisbane casual dining venue offers a vegan and vegetarian twist on Korean food that keeps customers coming back for more. It serves up lunch, dinner and drinks with a fusion of Asian and Western-style dishes, from salt and pepper mini buns to deep-fried suji, vegan nuggets, dumplings, fried rice and noodle dishes, with green tea jelly among the sweet treats.

6. Greenhouse Canteen + Bar
12/68 Manning St, South Brisbane
Having started on the Gold Coast, this vegan restaurant brought it’s plant-based cuisine to Brisbane by popular demand. Specialising in familiar fare with a meat-free twist, diners can chow down on the likes of arancini balls, deep-fried fondue, tacos, burgers, nachos and more, matched with a vegan-friendly wine and beer offering.

5. You Came Again
245 Boundary St, West End
Going out for drinks and small bites with your vego friends just became easier with this edgy and fun vegan tapas bar. The menu heroes the humble vegetable with everything from pesto-stuffed mushrooms or harissa-roasted carrots with capsicum hummus to beetroot carpaccio and miso-glazed eggplant. A solid vegan craft beer, wine and cocktail list ensures a good time is had by all.

4. Yavanna

On a mission to help change the world one bite at a time, Yavanna is a plant-based alternative that satisfies the vegan palate. But the plant-based eatery and bar doesn’t sacrifice taste or options while delivering its ethical dishes. Yavanna serves up a big breakfast, share plates of king oyster mushrooms with rocket, chilli and lemon, chipotle nachos and kids’ favourite chicken nuggets and chips, with decadent desserts.

3. Netherworld

A playful but mindful eating experience at Netherworld provides a fusion of flavours from the Americas and Asia. The menu is completely vegan unless restaurant-goers choose to add dairy or meat options. Guests are warned they might get lost around the diner with the arcade machines, pinball machines, classic consoles and countless board games.

2. The Green Edge

This family-owned business certainly has a green edge on providing ethical options with ease and convenience.
The Green Edge is a family-owned grocery and cafe specialising in vegetarian and vegan dishes and products. Their breakfast menu boasts everything 100 per cent vego, even a Bac’n & Egg MocMuffin, while their lunch and dinner options are equally mouth-watering with Angry MOOless burgers and Buddha bowls.

The work of Brisbane Vegan Markets founder Jonny Garrison and award-winning chef Alejandro Cancino, this hole-in-the-wall vegan burger shop has herbivores and carnivores hooked. Even winning the praise of MasterChef Australia judges, it uses Cancino’s acclaimed Veef beef substitute in many of its burgers, alongside special barbecued “pork” and a “chicken” schnitzel. There’s also Garrison’s beloved range of coconut-based soft serves and milkshakes.
