Normally a tactical air mobility platform, the KA350 aircraft and its crew from 38 Squadron Townsville are playing the role of Asymmetric threat aircraft. The KA350 is used to test the threat responses from surface ships from the Five Powers Defence Arrangements (FPDA) nations of Australia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore and the UK. Exercise Bersama Shield is an annual FPDA training event. The exercise is being held within the FPDA exercise area in Malaysia and Singapore between April 27th and May 9th 2017.
