American rapper Ice Spice has apologised for arriving late to a New Year’s Eve festival set in Brisbane... saying sorry to a new audience in Perth.

Ice Spice, an American artist who skyrocketed to fame in 2022 when her song “Munch (Feelin’ U)” went viral, was one of the headline acts for Wildlands Festival.

The “Deli” singer was scheduled to begin her performance at 10:30pm on December 31 at the Brisbane RNA showgrounds but left fans waiting for 25 minutes.

Ice Spice, whose real name is Isis Gaston, only performed three songs before wrapping up after her microphone was turned off due to the festival’s strict curfew.

Videos of the set posted to TikTok showed fans booing the 25-year-old off the stage after her performance was cut short.

The rapper was seen giving the crowd a “peace sign” before walking off the stage.

Days later, the rapper addressed her Brisbane performance in Perth on Saturday, apologising for the five-minute act.

“I’m sorry guys, surely y’all can forgive me,” Ice Spice said.

“It was my birthday and it takes a long time to look like a Barbie.”

But fans were unimpressed, taking to social media to express their disappointment.

“If my boss still expects me to work on my birthday, she can work on hers,” one person said.

“If her birthday was more important (which I understand) she shouldn’t have agreed to do the festival,” a second commented.

“No one at Brissy Wildlands forgives her we pay $230 tickets for her to come on 30 minutes later we all should get some of our money back,” a third said.

Wildlands responded to upset festival-goers on Instagram, explaining the New Year’s Eve event was held to a very strict curfew at 12.30am.

“We understand that Ice Spice’s delayed arrival caused some disappointment. Managing a stacked festival means that we have to be extremely firm with set times,” the comment read.

“We had a strict curfew of 12.30 and need to ensure that the final act went on stage on time, so everyone could enjoy the New Year’s Eve countdown.”
