New York Aussie pub Old Mates confirms iconic XXXX beer on tap
A celebrity-magnet New York pub has confirmed it’s about to start serving iconic Queensland beer XXXX on tap.
New York Aussie pub Old Mates has confirmed that iconic Queensland beer XXXX will soon be available on tap.
The venue went viral on Tuesday night after actor Hugh Jackman made a surprise appearance alongside Kate Hudson, with the pair belting out Neil Diamond’s Sweet Caroline to a packed crowd.
The song choice, while iconic, was no coincidence, with the duo set to star together in Song Sung Blue, playing a couple who perform in a Neil Diamond tribute band.
Venue manager and former Brisbane local Brock Heath joined Nova’s Ash, Luttsy & Nikki Osbourne to explain how the moment came together.
During the chat, host David “Luttsy” Lutteral jokingly aired his disappointment that his favourite drop, XXXX, wasn’t on tap at the New York bar.
Brock didn’t hesitate to reassure him. “Don’t worry, it’s coming soon!”
He later told The Courier-Mail: “It’s been a slog but it’s almost done! It hasn’t arrived yet, but it’s definitely coming.”
Old Mates is a Manhattan pub inspired by Australian culture, known for its laid-back vibe, classic Aussie dishes, and regular celebrity drop-ins.
