The Bachelor Australia 2022: New Bach spotted filming on Gold Coast

Photos have emerged of the unannounced 2022 Bachelor filming on the Gold Coast this week, and it turns out he’s a familiar face.

The identity of this year’s Bachelor has been leaked after he was spotted filming on the Gold Coast.

While Channel 10 is yet to announce the leading man for 2022, we can reveal Melbourne basketballer Felix Von Hofe will front the long-running dating series when it airs later this year.

The 27-year-old was photographed brandishing a rose as he enjoyed a date with a mystery blonde on Monday.

According to his athlete page on NBL1, Von Hofe is 6ft.5 tall and plays for the Melbourne Tigers.

Hofe, who also has an education degree, previously played for Melbourne United in the National Basketball League.

News.com.au has today contacted the Ten Network for comment about the photos.

Little is known about the upcoming 10th season of The Bachelor – which is delayed on previous years – but there are suggestions Ten is shaking things up amid dire ratings.

The Channel 10 reality series, which first aired The Bachelor Australia in 2013 before debuting The Bachelorette in 2015, saw just 629,000 metro viewers tuning in for last year’s September finale with Jimmy Nicholson and Holly Kingston, which was down from 879,000 for the show’s seventh season in 2020.

Brooke Blurton’s subsequent season of The Bachelorette didn’t fare much better, with November’s finale pulling in the smallest audience on record - just 439,000 metro viewers tuned in to see who Blurton had picked.

Last year’s ratings were in stark contrast to The Bachelorettes’s heyday, when the finale of Sophie Monk’s 2017 season pulled in 1.604 million metro viewers, while Sam Frost’s debut season in 2015 scored 1.52 million metro viewers for the final episode.

Elsewhere, the most successful Bachelor finale was in 2015, when almost 1.5 million people tuned in to watch Sam Wood choose now-wife Snezana Wood.
