Excruciating moment star refuses to speak during live TV interview on Celebrity Big Brother

A live TV chat has turned excruciatingly awkward after a British star flat-out refused to speak to the show’s hosts.

A live interview with the latest star to be evicted from UK Celebrity Big Brother has turned excruciatingly awkward after she refused to speak.

Patsy Palmer, an actress on Britain’s long-running soap EastEnders, was voted out of the house this week, and sat down for the customary exit chat with hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best.

After the trio discussed Palmer’s highlights, the conversation hit a major snag following a reference to a clash with former housemate Mickey Rourke, who’d left her in floods of tears after criticising the way she cooked broccoli.

“There were a few tricky moments you had to deal with in there,” Best pointed out.

“People complaining about your broccoli, that was one …”

Rather than delve into the drama, a stony-faced Palmer stayed completely silent as the hosts awkwardly waited for her to respond.

Odudu then pressed on, asking “did it really upset you when Mickey complained to your face about the food?” – but was met with only a blunt “erm, not really that”, and nothing else.

The painfully awkward moment came after Rourke, who was kicked out of the house after inappropriate and offensive remarks and behaviour, told Palmer on the show: “What do you know? You can’t cook.”

“I can’t cook?” the stunned actress asked, prompting Rourke to double down: “No, not even a little bit.”

Palmer responded that she hoped it was a “sarcastic joke”, before heading to the Diary Room and breaking down in tears.

Meanwhile, Palmer’s awkward TV moment wasn’t her first in recent years.

Back in 2021, she left Good Morning Britain hosts Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard stunned after announcing she was “doing a Piers Morgan” and shutting down their interview.

She had taken issue with the choice of words being used to describe her at the bottom of the screen.

“Patsy Palmer, actress and entrepreneur,” the description initially read, but changed 30 seconds into the interview, causing an instant reaction from Palmer, who leaned in to read the update.

“PATSY PALMER: ADDICT TO WELLNESS GURU,” it read. Palmer has in the past spoken about suffering drug and alcohol addition in the ’90s, but revealed in a 2010 interview that she’d been clean and sober since 2004.

As Palmer registered the description, she became visibly upset and shut down the interview.

“You know what actually, I don’t even want to do this interview, because I don’t even want to look at what it says at the bottom of that screen,” she said. “So I’m just gonna switch off, do a real Piers Morgan, and say it’s not OK to have ‘addict to wellness guru’ on the bottom of the screen. My issues that I had years ago were talked about by me many, many years ago, and it’s over. So I’m not going to talk to you,” she said.
