Sam Burgess proposes to Lucy Graham during Fiji holiday

Ex-NRL star Sam Burgess has popped the question to his pregnant girlfriend while holidaying in Fiji. Lucy Graham was seen sporting the diamond sparkler as the couple jetted back into Sydney on Sunday night.

It’s wedding bells for Rabbitohs legend Sam Burgess and pregnant girlfriend Lucy Graham.

The ex-NRL star popped the question last week while holidaying in Fiji and the pair were photographed arriving home at Sydney Airport on Sunday night.

Graham showed off her diamond sparkler as the couple made their way through the Sydney terminal.

Burgess is understood to have told his Rabbitohs colleagues his intention to propose on the trip.

While there has been no official announcement from the couple, Graham was posting about the Fiji trip from her Instagram account.

The engagement follows Graham hinting in May the pair could soon walk down the aisle.

The hairdresser posted a series of photos on Instagram on May 8, thanking her friends for organising the best “last minute baby shower and wedding” while she was back home in the United Kingdom.

Burgess wasn’t in the pictures, suggesting it was just a dress rehearsal for friends who won’t be able to make the trip to Australia for the real event.

“Thank you so much to my amazing friends for organising the most wonderful last minute baby shower/wedding I could have wished for,” Ms Graham posted in May.

“I love you all and thank you so much to everyone for coming at such short notice and making the little time we had so fun.”

The ex-Rabbitohs star and Ms Graham have known each other for more than 15 years, but only began dating in late 2022.

Burgess, 34, revealed the new romance to the world in October when the couple walked the red carpet in Rome for close mate Russell Crowe’s new film, Poker Face.

Their relationship hit the next level when Graham announced she was pregnant in April after passing the three-month mark.

Due later this year, it will be Burgess’ third child. He already has two children – Poppy and Billy – from his first marriage to Phoebe Burgess.

Burgess played 182 games for South Sydney in the NRL, achieving legend-status in 2014 when he helped lead the club to its first premiership since being reinstated to the competition after the Super League war.

Burgess fractured his cheekbone in the opening tackle of the decider against the Bulldogs but played out the match to claim victory and the Clive Churchill medal.

Burgess’ marriage to Phoebe Burgess ended in divorce in 2020 after five years.
