Its seems perfectly fitting that Queensland Ballet’s forthcoming production of The Sleeping Beauty should be presented by Sealy Posturepedic. It’s clever marketing on both sides and the dancers are pretty happy because the famous bedmaker has gifted 60 beds to the company for them.
Sealy’s national marketing manager Wade Ganzer says it “felt so right to be presenting partner to The Sleeping Beauty”.
“Sealy has dedicated their entire career to helping Australians get a good night’s sleep,” Ganzer says. “Sealy strives for excellence and there was an obvious synergy to support a world class company based here in Queensland. Supporting local excellence was a key part of the decision and Sealy is a family owned business based in Brisbane.” We believe one of their beds will be on display in the foyer at the Lyric Theatre during the season of The Sleeping Beauty which runs from June 4 to 19.
Queensland Ballet Head of Performance Health Zara Gomes is responsible for helping dancers to recover from injuries and fatigue, and to perform to their best. She says having a good bed is vital for a ballet dancer.
“These dancers have a challenging workload, and proper sleep is an important requirement for each and every one of our 60 dancers, to aid recovery both mentally and physically” she says.
“Having a good mattress is important for sleep quality, but also for the spine, to prevent stiffness and muscle tightness. The right amount of support and maintenance of the normal spinal curves when sleeping is very important, speaking from a Physiotherapist’s perspective.”
But let’s hope the Queensland Ballet dancers don’t ‘t get too comfy, sleep in and miss classes. That wouldn’t do at all.
