Outgoing Brisbane newsreader Kendall Gilding has revealed she has no plans to become a stay at home mum or leave the media landscape.
The popular presenter is set to depart from Channel 7 on Friday in what wraps up a 12-year career with the network.
Gilding however quashed speculation she was looking to prioritise her young family and seek new opportunities away from the media spotlight.
In a post to Instagram on Boxing Day, Gilding hinted that a new chapter in media was on the horizon.
“Praying this isn’t a moment of insanity, but rather a radical step of bravery,” it read.
“Backing myself and believing that the best is yet to come.
“I’m not becoming a stay at home mum, I don’t plan on leaving media. In fact I’m looking forward to a huge 2024, ready to work harder than ever. Stay tuned for my second act.”
Gilding said it was a bitter sweet feeling to depart 7’s airwaves and that being beamed into Queensland lounge rooms daily had been a privilege.
“On this exact day 12 years ago I did my first shift at 7News. Which is why it feels so hard to say that this week will be my last,” her post read.
“I’m one of those lucky people who knew exactly what they wanted to do from 14 years of age! I always wanted to be a TV journalist.
“This Friday will be my final day. I’m reading the 6pm news all week. I’d love a Matilda’s-style ratings spike for my last show. Feel free to clear your schedules and treat the news like a World Cup penalty shoot out.”
