Kendall Gilding, a prominent figure in Queensland’s media landscape, is set to depart Channel 7, concluding her 12-year career at the network.

It is understood the 32-year-old newsreader has decided to prioritise her young family and seek new opportunities, stepping away from her role as the familiar face of the 4pm news bulletin on weekdays.

Gilding has yet to issue a formal statement regarding her resignation.

In a recent social media post, Gilding was seen at the 7 News desk, captioning the image with “Tuesday news day,” which did not suggest any imminent departure.

She also appeared on the 4pm news on December 20 without any on-air announcement about her departure.

Her career in journalism began in 2011 as a presenter at Brisbane’s 96five Family Radio.

She joined Channel 7 within the same year and has since become a staple of the network’s news team.

Gilding’s tenure at Channel 7 is expected to conclude on December 29.

The network has yet to announce a successor for Gilding’s role as the 4pm news presenter.

In a personal revelation last year, Gilding shared the extraordinary circumstances surrounding the birth of her second child.

In October 2022, she welcomed a baby boy named Moses Morgan with her husband Timothy Morgan in an unexpected setting — a shower at Mater Mother’s Hospital in South Brisbane. Recounting the experience to The Courier-Mail, Gilding detailed the rapid three-hour labour and how her husband played a pivotal role in the birth.

“He was born in the shower and Tim was able to catch him,” Gilding explained, describing the moment as ‘pretty special’.
