Swift has faced a wave of criticism on social media after a video of her performing on her Eras Tour went viral.

A video of Taylor Swift dancing at her Eras Tour show has sparked a furious debate after going viral online and facing criticism from those who aren’t fans of the star.

Swift celebrated the end of the Aussie leg of her Eras Tour with her final show in Sydney on Monday night.

While Swift was onstage entertaining 80,000 fans, a video of the superstar performing one of her hits was capturing attention on social media.

The video shows Swift singing and dancing along to her hit We Are Never Getting Back Together onstage, and it went viral after it was tweeted alongside the caption: “I can’t believe people pay money to see this”.

After an influx of replies bashing her dancing and labelling her “awkward” from those who aren’t fans of the singer, Swifties have now begun hitting back at the criticism and revealing why they grew to love Swift in the first place.

“She is the reason so many people who are not professional dancers feel confident in their goofy dances just because it makes them happy,” replied one fan.

“Nobody is a Taylor Swift fan because of her dancing skills (it’s just for fun on the pop tracks). People are fans of her because of her songwriting and lyricism,” said another supporter.

A third fan hit back: “Taylor audiences know Taylor is not a dancer but that doesn’t makes her less enjoyable to watch for us!”

“Taylor Swift has never put herself out there as some kind of great dancer or someone that puts together intricate choreography,” insisted a fourth. “She literally has music videos that highlight her bad dancing because she’s aware of it lmao. if you’re going to the eras tour you’re going for her.”

Swifties came out in defence of the star after many poked fun at the viral video on Twitter.

One troll commented: “Swifties enjoy the bare minimum,” while another wrote: “I think my dog can perform better”.

Meanwhile, Swift has entertained a whopping 300,000 fans over the course of her string of Sydney shows alone.

And the final night at Accor Stadium in Sydney did not disappoint the US megastar.

“Looking at this crowd, the biggest crowd we’ve had at our four shows here!” Swift told the heaving stadium after taking the spotlight.

“You’re out here making me feel like I’m the first artist to play four shows at Accor Stadium!”

“This is our final night of four,” she added. “And we have had the most wonderful time, I’ve got to tell you that. You are here in one of the most exciting cities in the world, and you chose to hang out with us. Thanks guys!”
