Guns N’ Roses singer Axl Rose tipped to replace Brian Johnson for AC/DC US tour

GUNS N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose is tipped to front AC/DC for the remaining 10 concerts of their US tour after singer Brian Johnson pulled out.

AXL Rose is tipped to front AC/DC for the remainder of their US tour.

“It’s all but a done deal” that the Guns N’ Roses frontman will replace the rock band’s lead singer Brian Johnson, who pulled out of the Rock or Bust tour at risk of hearing loss on doctor’s orders.

Alternative Nation first reported that Rose was in rehearsals in Atlanta but not with GNR and Atlanta Radio 100.5 DJ said he was going to fill in for the final 10 shows of the AC/DC tour.

“Axl was meeting with the AC/DC group, because it’s all but a done deal that Axl will front AC/DC for the 10 remaining shows. All 10, including Atlanta,” Bailey said on air.

The band announced earlier this month that they would be rescheduling the 10 dates on their official website, where they also explained they would forge ahead with a new singer.

ANGUS YOUNG ONLY ORIGINAL AC/DC MEMBER LEFT

“AC/DC are forced to reschedule the 10 upcoming dates on the US leg of their Rock or Bust World Tour. AC/DC’s lead singer, Brian Johnson, has been advised by doctors to stop touring immediately or risk total hearing loss.

“Tomorrow’s show in Atlanta through Madison Square Garden in New York, NY in early April will be made up later in the year, likely with a guest vocalist,” the statement said.

The first of the rescheduled gigs is set to take place in Atlanta where Bailey broadcasts his radio show from.

The DJ said the band had already been auditioning singers in the area as founding member Angus Young was keen to go on with the show.

“From what I was told, this was all kind of new inside information to me, Angus is a very black-and-white guy. He’s like, Brian, for health reasons, can’t continue fronting the band,” Bailey said.

“He was supposed to retire after the last tour, so they wanted to continue going out on the road and continue making music, so if you can’t do it, we appreciate your services, but the show must go on. They’re in town, they were auditioning people for the job, and then they flew Axl in. Again, this is from my source.”

The band haven’t been afraid to replace members in the past. Angus’ brother and fellow founding member, Malcolm Young, left the band last year after he was diagnosed with dementia and was replaced by their nephew, guitarist Stevie Young.

When drummer Phil Rudd was sentenced to eight months’ home detention after pleading guilty to charges of threatening to kill, and drug possession, drummer Chris Slade was drafted in to play on the tour.

Johnson himself actually took over frontman duties in 1980 from singer Bon Scott, who died suddenly in London after a heavy night of drinking.

At this point, lead guitarist and founding member Angus Young is the last AC/DC original member.

AC/DC’s Australian representatives have not commented.
