Hollywood heavyweight Mark Wahlberg has sent Gold Coast media personalities into a frenzy, after being spotted at the upmarket Langham Hotel on Tuesday.

The A-lister’s surprise appearance coincided with the A Passion For Food and Fashion high tea event, hosted by Inside Gold Coast.

Attendees, including TV reporters, radio hosts and journalists, couldn’t resist the chance to grab a few selfies with the A-lister.

Among those who scored a photo with the Transformers actor was 10 News First weather presenter Liz Cantor.

The seasoned presenter cheekily invited the actor to join her for a live 5pm weather cross. However Wahlberg politely declined, explaining that he had a golf game to get to before the rain hit.

“I asked him to stick around for the @tennewsqld weather cross... but he said he had to get to the golf course before the rain. Fair,” Cantor shared on Instagram.

The actor has previously been seen teeing off at the exclusive Grand Golf Club during his time on the Gold Coast.

Hot Tomato radio host Emily Jade O’Keefe also took to social media, sharing her excitement over meeting the actor. “What a nice guy, didn’t say no to any photo,” she posted alongside a selfie with Wahlberg.

Wahlberg is understood to be back in South East Queensland to wrap up filming for his latest project, Balls Up, which started production in Brisbane in July.

The actor briefly returned to the US but is now back on Aussie soil to complete the shoot.

It is understood that Wahlberg is currently staying in The Langham Chairman’s Ocean Suite, a luxury room that costs about $4500 per night.

The Hollywood star has been making the most of his time on the Gold Coast, even spotted exploring the glitter strip and mingling with locals outside the Sacred Heart Church in Surfers Paradise, where he wished fans a “Happy Sunday, buddy. God bless you, stay prayed up” in a video.
