MAFS Australia bride Morena cops brutal backlash after clash with husband Tony

There’s a few cast members sharing the ‘villain’ title on MAFS this year, with viewers now turning on bride Morena after her “disrespectful” behaviour.

There are a few contenders competing for the obligatory villain title on Married At First Sight this season, with Morena emerging as a possible frontrunner after Tuesday’s episode.

One part of the show’s token elderly couple, divorced mother-of-two Morena, 57, saw her marriage to Tony, 53, implode after the pair got in a heated argument about communication.

Things escalated after Tony returned to their apartment from a workshop with MAFS sex expert Alessandra, eager to talk to his TV wife about what he learned amid intimacy week.

Morena, who has already been ruffling feathers in her union by failing to listen to Tony, appeared to disregard his attempts at conversation so she could discuss her new affirmation book instead.

“I’m coming back here and you’re hammering me,” Tony told her.

“Sometimes you’ve just got to stop, let me have my say.”

Morena wasn’t having it, accusing Tony of trying to shut her up.

“You don’t get to walk off [and] tell me to stop talking. I asked for an alpha man, I didn’t ask for a child,” she screamed.

Tony’s attempts to apologise only angered Morena further. Fed up, Tony fled their apartment and went home to Wollongong, prompting Morena to record a furious selfie video which played out on-air.

The nasty confrontation has seen viewers turn on the bride, labelling her behaviour “childish” and “disrespectful”.

“But Morena you DO need to STOP talking sometimes … my god woman …” one wrote.

“Morena is an actual nightmare. Actually behaving like the child she referred Tony to as,” another said.

“Morena is too much,” a third added.

A fourth said, “Morena needs therapy. I sympathise with her having a shitty marriage, but … that’s not Tony’s fault.”

Another simply wrote, “Tony... Run.”

Meanwhile, Morena issued somewhat of an explainer for her portrayal on the series during the radio rounds on Tuesday, claiming producers weren’t airing a key event that unfolded during their time filming.

The DJ told The Fox’s Fifi, Fev & Nick that Tony informed her he was still married to his ex-wife, causing tension for the couple on their honeymoon.

“Tony’s not interested in me, and I accept that. Going on Married At First Sight was like going on a bad date, the only difference is it was on-air. The problem that I have is … why are you hiding my story?” she said.

“Being separated and dating is completely acceptable, but I don’t think it’s right that you go on a show to get married when you’re legally married.”

Further, Morena alleged Tony was “still in love with his spouse.”

“They’re [producers] not going to reveal it … they told me, ‘Stop talking, we are not going to air that he’s married’,” Morena said.

Married At First Sight continues Wednesday at 7.30pm on Nine
