Ironman Jett Kenny has come out of his latest foray into reality television a better person … and a lighter one too.

The “natural introvert” son of athletes Grant Kenny and Lisa Curry used his downtime while filming SAS Australia to reflect upon and process the untimely loss of his beloved sister Jaimi.

“I’m coming out of it lighter potentially,” Kenny told The Daily Telegraph after his departure from the show last night. “I like my own space and doing my own things and I am relatively quiet. I think people would know me from Dancing With The Stars, which was a bit more out there because it was short bursts.”

By lighter, the 27-year-old means both emotionally and physically since he lost 8kg while competing on the gruelling show that puts celebrities through their paces in an often brutal SAS selection course.

“There is a lot of downtime and a lot of travel time where you can sit and ponder,” he said. “I set my standards very high and that comes with everything, whether that is being a better brother to my sister or my sport or my work, anything.”

Kenny’s sister Jaimi, 33, died in September 2020 after a long health battle with alcohol and an eating disorder.

The buff blond opened up about the trauma of losing his sister while on the show, speaking for the first time about her death.

“You get to that point where you are a bit broken down or exhausted physically and mentally and people tend to open up a bit more,” he said.

AFL star Heath Shaw and athlete Jessica Peris also departed the show last night.

Kenny believes he would have made it further if he had he been able to eat a full meal before his final challenge as he does not eat seafood and fish was on the menu for that last meal in camp.
