Gold Coast fitness mogul Tammy Hembrow has ignited a social media frenzy following the announcement of her engagement to former Love Island Australia star Matt Zukowski, with some followers calling her a “serial engager”.
The news, coming just three months after the couple began dating and less than a year following her split from former fiance Matt Poole, has divided her nearly 18 million followers, with reactions ranging from amusement to concern.
Hembrow, 29, took to Instagram on Sunday to share the details of Zukowski’s romantic proposal during a candlelit beach dinner in the Maldives.
Yet, it’s the fans’ reactions that are stealing the spotlight, with many sceptical of the fast pace of the relationship.
Amid the flurry of comments, a significant portion of her followers has drawn humorous parallels between Hembrow and Ross Geller, the Friends character played by David Schwimmer known for his multiple marriages and subsequent failed relationships, with one commenter calling the 29-year-old the “female Ross Geller”.
“They’ve been together for like 5 minutes?!” one commenter wrote, while another posted: “How many bloody times does she wanna get engaged?”.
Hembrow, who has been previously engaged twice, shares children, Wolf, 8, and Saskia, 7, with her former fiance Reece Hawkins, before separating in 2018.
She also shares a daughter, Posy, 1, with former fiance and retired ironman champion Matt Poole, with who she split in 2022, after a lavish proposal on board a luxury yacht in 2021.
Another Instagram user humorously used the opportunity to reassess their own love life, commenting: “People out here finding the love of their life 6 times I still can’t find mine once.”
However, not all reactions have been in jest.
Some followers have raised concerns about the potential impact of Hembrow’s rapid relationship changes on her children.
“No hate, but how her kids adapt to a new man every year? It must be hard!” one commenter wrote.
Another pointed out the pattern of having children early in her relationships.
“Girl we’re happy for you but maybe stop having more kids with people you just met A few months ago lol,” they said.
Despite the mixed feedback, a surge of support for Hembrow has also emerged.
Many of her fans are applauding her courage in the pursuit of love and happiness, criticising the negative commentary she has faced.
“The comments she has been getting on her posts are disgusting,” one supporter writes, while others commended her for moving on from toxic relationships and striving for what she deserves.
The couple first went public with their relationship back in September at the red carpet event for Stan series C*A*U*G*H*T in Sydney after weeks of speculation that the couple were dating.
Speculation began in early September when a video surfaced on the Influencer Updates Au Instagram account on September 2 that captured Tammy sharing an intimate moment with a mystery man believed to be Zukowski at the Star on the Gold Coast.
