A large bull shark and a 2m tiger shark have been caught off K’gari just weeks after a 400kg monster was caught on the opposite end of the holiday destination.

A 3m, 400kg tiger shark was caught by land-based fishermen on the east side of the island at the end of July.

Trying his luck on the western side, fisherman Jack Boyd paddled his kayak out about 150 -200m from the shore, where he hooked two large sharks.

“Some good sharks on the west coast just on dusk, the baits weren’t in the water for anymore than 20 minutes before getting taken,” he posted on Facebook.

Mr Boyd said he caught a “big bull shark” and a tiger shark just under 2m long.

He said he used “whole taylor and whole mullet” as bait.

“All dead, just had diamond size 5 sinkers sliding on the leader,” he said.

Ryan Selvey, from the Gold Coast, was the angler to land the giant Tiger a few weeks ago.

He said he paddled the bait out on his surfboard for about 300m and dropped it, before returning to land to fish.

Mr Selvey and a group of mates worked together to pull the massive shark into knee deep water, to the cheers of onlookers, and took photographs with it, before releasing it.
