Following the FBoy Island Australia finale on Monday, 21-year-old Gold Coast contestant Izaya Leota has revealed that he has won more than just a TV reality show, but has found “the love of his life” in fellow contestant Ziara Rae after being picked as her winner.
The latest episode of the hit reality TV series saw each female participant slicing through the haze of male contenders, homing in on their top choice, with Izaya clinched his spot, beating actor and basketball player Cory.
However, their blossoming romance wasn’t designed for TV screens alone, with the Gold Coast local revealing that the love affair between Izaya and Ziara didn’t end with the cameras stopped rolling.
“She’s the love of my life, we still together, we run strong,” Leota confirmed, three months after filming.
The couple are managing a long-distance relationship, with Ziara living in Melbourne and Izaya on the Gold Coast.
Despite the geographical challenges, they visit each other every chance they get.
“We‘re doing long distance, it’s tough, but we worked it out,” he said.
After spending the past few months keeping their relationship under wraps awaiting the finale’s release, Leota is thrilled about finally being able to live a normal life with Ziara.
“I really just want to show off... take her out in nice places, go out on dates like normal people, just go everywhere,” he said.
“It‘s going to be so much easier now that the show is out, rather than just hiding out every weekend and every time I come to see her.”
Leota also admitted the journey to the finale wasn’t easy, having struggled with self-doubt, comparing himself with Cory, the other finalist.
“Cory, he‘s talking about security, talking about this, talking about that. Kind of like, just portrayed me to not really being enough of a man for her,” he shared.
But Leota’s determination and belief in himself and his feelings for Ziara shone through.
“I felt like I deserved her, I felt like the person that I showed her was more than the person that Cory showed her,” he said.
Leota confirmed that his feelings for Ziara were strong right from the beginning, even though he didn‘t join the show with the aim of finding love.
“I didn‘t expect to find someone like her, someone beautiful and younger than me on the show,” he revealed.
“I felt like love always came to me when you least expect it and it did.
“I found her and I’m just so glad that I took that step.”
