An occupational therapist, a professional DJ and a model will vie for love in Australia’s newest and possibly most controversial ever new reality TV dating show.

FBoy Island Australia will premiere on BINGE on May 29 and will follow three women’s search for love among a pool of male hopefuls.

There is however a major catch to the format, which has already been a huge success in the US.

The women must choose a partner from the 24 suitors, half of whom are Fboys, or players, and the other half being genuinely in it for love.

O’Halloran, 26, signed up for the show just a few months after breaking up with her fiance.

“I am very new to all of this, I have never done television or media at all,” she said.

“I had my heart broken by the ultimate Fboy and had pretty much planned my whole life around that and everything got flipped on its head.”

O’Halloran, from Melbourne, said filming the show was a way of “taking back control”.

“I was really keen to take back what control I could and to hopefully go into this kind of experiment per se to be able to put myself out there again,” she explained.

“This show is all about the empowerment of women — it is girls getting together to work out who is trying to dupe them and who is potentially lying to their faces to get the money.

“It kind of twists the whole dating show on its head, the fact that it is not girls having catfights over one bloke, it is us working together and supporting each other.”

FBOY Island is a 10-part reality series hosted by Abbie Chatfield and produced by Warner Bros International Television Productions Australia for BINGE.

Blackley is originally from New Zealand and moved to Australia seven years ago to further her DJ career.

“I am actually genuinely here to find a connection, whether that happens or not is up to myself I guess and the energy of the earth,” Blackley said.

“You have got to let your guard down to actually feel the authenticity, otherwise it is not true so you’ve got to follow your gut.”

Rae is the youngest female looking for love. At 21, she knows what she is looking for.

“I didn’t expect it to be this full on,” she said.

“We have got to keep coming back to the conclusion that half of the guys are here for the money and half are here for a genuine connection but I do think that I could definitely reform an Fboy.

Time will tell but I am definitely feeling like I could fall for a couple of these guys.

“I am not closed off to anything, I am letting the experience of everything guide me.”
