Ellidy Pullin, the widow of Gold Coast snowboard champion Alex “Chumpy” Pullin, has revealed she is ready to start dating again, almost four years after the tragic death of her partner.

Chumpy Pullin, a beloved figure in the snowboarding world, drowned in a spearfishing accident in July 2020 at Palm Beach on the Gold Coast.

In the immediate aftermath of her partner’s death, Ellidy made the life-changing decision to undergo posthumous sperm retrieval.

This decision led to the birth of their daughter, Minnie, fifteen months later through IVF, keeping Chumpy’s legacy alive.

Speaking candidly on her podcast, Darling, Shine!, which she co-hosts with best friend Chloe Fisher, Ellidy discussed her journey and the possibility of opening her heart to love again.

“Absolutely open to dating, actually excited about it, it’s a f***ing jungle out their though,” she said, adding a touch of humour to her heartfelt admission.

“It would be sick to be walking through Woolworths and someone just picks the same apple as me.”

Despite her openness to dating, Ellidy remains cautious about introducing anyone new into her life too quickly.

“I’m all for a bit of fun and wanna go out and meet guys, but I’m not ready to bring anyone into our lives as something serious,” she shared.

“I’ve always been a relationship person, and I was with Chump for ages; forever. And I thought I only ever see him for the rest of my life. And now I can’t even imagine being like that with someone else.”

Ellidy’s vision of a future partner is simple yet heartfelt.

“I just wanna find a f***ing tradie who’s nice, and we get along, and we just have that chemistry. Someone who likes adventure. Who is up for travelling. Someone who’s up for a good bloody time,” she explained on the podcast.

Ellidy and Chumpy had been together for eight years at the time of his passing, although they were not married.

In a heartfelt tribute to her late partner, Ellidy chose to change her last name to Pullin after his death, solidifying their bond even in his absence.

Chloe Fisher, who is expecting a baby with her husband, the renowned musician DJ Fisher, expressed her wholehearted support for Ellidy.

“I want you to be happy. I want you to have that love again … But, just to have that happiness of a partner in crime. I want that for you,” she said.
