Global hip-hop heavyweight Drake has arrived in Queensland ahead of his highly anticipated Brisbane performances on February 24, 25, and March 4, 2025.
The rap megastar was set to touch down at Brisbane Airport with his entourage on Saturday night aboard a massive Boeing 757-23A.
Despite the concerts being held in the River City, the Hotline Bling star is understood to be setting up camp on the Gold Coast, taking a leaf from the books of fellow superstars P!nk and Luke Combs.
Word around town is that Drake has chosen to stay at The Langham in Broadbeach, a five-star retreat that has previously played host to Mark Wahlberg, Paul Rudd, Jack Black, Chris Rock, and members of Guns N’ Roses.
Speculation about his preference for the Coast first surfaced back in November, when Drake casually mentioned during a livestream with gaming star xQc that he’d be performing in “Melbourne, Sydney, Gold Coast” in early 2025.
When the official tour dates were revealed, confirming Brisbane instead of the Gold Coast, talk quickly turned to whether he’d be making the daily commute from the glitter strip — a move that both P! nk and Combs made on past Queensland visits.
As Drake’s first Brisbane show approaches, attention is turning to where he’ll be unwinding post-performance.
Unlike Travis Scott, who made a surprise club appearance at Eclipse megaclub during his Brisbane visit last year, Drake appears to favour intimate, high-end venues, as seen during his Melbourne and Sydney tour stops.
A strong contender is the revamped GPO Building, one of Brisbane’s newest luxury night-life destinations.
Gatsby and Tax Office have emerged as possible afterparty locations, while the Tama Supper Club — a sophisticated restaurant housed within the GPO precinct — could be on his dining radar.
Another contender is Su Casa, a Fortitude Valley hip-hop and R & B nightclub.
Owned by The Luna Group, which previously hosted Travis Scott at Eclipse and Kevin Hart at Kenjin, the venue is considered a potential spot for a last-minute drop-in by the rapper.
Those lucky enough to score an invite to Drake’s exclusive afterparties can expect secrecy at the highest level.
Attendees from his Sydney event at The Caterpillar Club, an underground music bar, revealed just how exclusive these gatherings are.
“I have no idea who to talk to if you wanted to get into a similar party, especially not in another city,” one attendee said. “I was only invited because my partner manages the bar that Drake and his team booked out in Sydney,” one attendee said.
Another insider confirmed the ‘cloak-and-dagger nature’ of Drake’s afterparties.
“No one knows where [the parties] are, not even the staff know where they are until the last second, you basically get a text message at like, 10 or 11pm telling you where the party will be,” they said.
“There’s like, real heavy security on the door. And if you don’t have a wristband or a text message, they just don’t let you in. There’s no ‘if, buts or maybes’, not ‘my friends inside’, not even if you’re the hottest girl. No one gets inside unless you’re selected.”
Drake’s Australian tour has already delivered some unexpected moments, and his Brisbane performances are likely to follow suit.
During his Melbourne concert at Rod Laver Arena, the rapper made headlines after gifting $50,000 to a pregnant concertgoer, who had requested he reveal her baby’s gender on stage.
With his first Brisbane show scheduled for Monday, February 24, speculation is growing about what surprises may be in store, whether it’s special guest appearances, exclusive afterparties, or high-profile giveaways.
