JACKIE OUT FOR GIG

Former Queensland politicianJackie Trad was spotted in the crowd at Aussie croonerNick Cave’s Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre show this week.

Trad and husband Damien van Brunschot took their seats on the floor area just before the start of Cave’s River City show, the final of his Australian tour.

She suffered the concert curse of vertically challenged folk, forced to look around the rather tall person in front of her.

The blocked view may have been the cause of her leaving halfway through Cave’s set.

VETERAN VETERINARIAN

He’s such a recognisable face on TV these days that you’d be forgiven for forgetting exactly where it all started for Dr Chris Brown.

The former I’m a Celeb host, who’s about to start work on new reality TV show Dream Home, came to fame via Bondi Vet – a show built around his work as a veterinarian.

And it turns out Dr Brown never actually gave up the day job and still regularly pulls on his scrubs to help out sick animals in need.

“The Dr at the front of my name – it’s not to differentiate me from the other Chris Brown – I still work as a vet pretty regularly,” he told The Scoop.

“In between filming, I do consultations and surgeries at the vet hospital where I’ve always worked. It’s still my favourite thing to do out of everything.

“A lot of people work multiple jobs, and I’m no different and when I’m not on the screens, I’m usually with the gloves on in the vet hospital.”

Channel 7’s The Dream, which is set to up as a rival to Channel 9’s The Block, features teams from Queensland, NSW and Victoria renovating each other’s homes for a chance to win $100,000.

While the show focuses on home makeovers, Brown’s real-life experience with renovations adds a unique perspective.

“I’ve lived what these couples are living,” he admitted.

“I’ve been through two renovations myself, both completely disastrous.

“I’m good with animals, but not necessarily great with a circular saw.”

Dream Home starts 7pm Sunday May 26 on Channel 7 and 7plus.
