The best celebrity gossip from a wild Melbourne Cup after-party

THE action off the turf kicked up a gear after the race that stopped the nation with Australian celebrities and reality TV stars putting on a show at the official Melbourne Cup after party. Here is the best celeb gossip from the day.

USAIN Bolt was true to form as he slinked his way into the Melbourne Cup after-party at Crown.

Surrounded by heavy handed security, and flanked by sidekick John Steffensen, the world’s fastest man arrived at the Together Events party just before 10pm on Wednesday night.

Ushered into a booth, Bolt sat uncomfortably perched looking miserable on a bench seat overlooking the talent as his minders invited women lucky enough for an audience with the sportsman into the roped off area.

It was a strange sight reminiscent of Bolt’s nights partying at Sin City on the Gold Coast during the Commonwealth Games earlier this year.

Security flashed bright lights in anyone’s camera eager for a snap of the star. Bolt even asked organisers to turn down the lights so as to make it more difficult for anyone to take pictures.

Former Aussie athlete Steffensen meanwhile, with a toothpick in his mouth at all times, ran around making sure his king was served. When one organiser offered Bolt a complimentary bottle of vodka, which was declined as he only drinks Hennessey Cognac.

He was seen however buying shots of coffee Patron tequila for his harem, which he paid for with his credit card.

The troupe, which included Bolt’s barber who travels with him, left the venue at closing, heading to Crown’s Club 23 with a couple of chosen female companions just after 12.15am.

Given Bolt looked so miserable, often with his head in his mobile phone, the question has to be asked: why did he bother attending the invite only after-party at all?

GEOFFREY EDELSTEN’S COURT CATCH-UPS WITH EX BRYNNE

Brynne Gordon insists she is not on bad terms with controversial ex-husband Geoffrey Edelsten.

But the pair don’t have anything to do with each other, outside of any legal wrangling.

“We are not on bad terms or anything but we don’t have any reason to be in contact other than if it is in court, believe it or not five years later,” Gordon told Confidential at the Crown after-party.

Gordon, 35, is 40 years younger than her ex-partner.

Recent reports suggest Edelsten, 75, is back together with his most recent much younger ex, Gabi Grecko.

As for Gordon, she too has moved on and there is talk of marriage to new partner, Leno Cachia.

“I have been really quiet lately, very domesticated playing wife at home with the boyfriend,” she said. “My partner hates going to events. I guess I have been through a lot of craziness the last few years and so I have been trying to create stability in my life.”

A NOT-SO-QUIET MARRIED AT FIRST SIGHT PROPOSAL

THE irony of a reality contestant proposing to his new girlfriend at one of the biggest social events of the year and then hoping to keep the engagement a secret is not lost on Confidential.

The cat was already out of the bag when Married At First Sight’s Sean Hollands declared he was hoping to sell his story as he and new fiance, Roslyn Buerckner, celebrated Melbourne Cup at the Together After Party at Crown Casino.

Several hours earlier, Hollands had posted a video of the moment he became engaged to his girlfriend.

“No one knows the details … a lot went into today and I want to keep that as an exclusive for someone,” the 36-year-old told Confidential.

“I’ve already been contacted by others, like New Idea.”

The pair, who both have two children from previous relationships, went public with their relationship earlier this year, after dating for about 18 months.

Unlucky in love Hollands was left heartbroken on last year’s season of reality dating program Married At First Sight after his TV bride Susan Rawlings declared her feelings for Sean weren’t mutual.

‘SWEETIE, I’VE GOT LOGIES AND YOU’RE UNEMPLOYED’

GOGGLEBOX stars Tom and Wayne found themselves in an awkward predicament when they came face-to-face with Nick “The Honey Badger” Cummins at Crown’s Melbourne Cup afterparty.

With Cummins partying the night away, particularly enjoying the female attention sporting red lipstick marks on his cheeks, words were spoken between Tom and the former rugby player.

Recalling the encounter to Confidential, Tom said: “I tapped him on the shoulder and he looked back at me and he goes ‘oh, you … what do you do?’ I laughed and I said ‘I watch TV for a living’.”

“He (Cummins) said ‘yeah I know, and what did you say about me?’ I laughed again and said ‘that you wasted 12 weeks of my life’ and then said ‘well, you can f***ing walk on then’ and turned and walked away.”

With his usual sharp-mouthed wit, Tom then called out to Cummins saying: “Sweetie, I’ve got 3 Logies and you’re unemployed.”

“I thought this is going to be the first time I got punched, but he kept walking … I think it’s hilarious,” he added.

THE BACHELORETTE’S PEACOCKING THREESOME

It was quite the spectacle when Ali Oetjen’s ousted Bachelorette contestants Ivan Krslovic, Wesley Ford and Rob Colangelo took to the dance floor.

In fact, it could almost have been a scene from Magic Mike as the boys gyrated and flaunted their unusual moves before bemused guests. “I don’t even know what to make of that,” said one onlooker. “It is something else. I’ve never seen anything like it.”

Despite five points for effort and energy, the peacocking threesome failed to attract any meaningful attention from female onlookers.

FIRST COMES LOVE, THEN COMES MARRIAGE

Are wedding bells on the cards for Bachelorette couple Georgia Love and Lee Elliott?

Pretty soon we hear if Elliott was serious as he and Love partied late into the night after Melbourne Cup.

“It will be within the next one to two years,” Elliott told Confidential. “And it will be in Italy, the most beautiful place in the world.”

It was news to Love, who joked: “That’s the first time I’ve heard that.”

Elliott was one of the organisers of Crown’s Together Events Cup Day After Party.
