Stan Wawrinka, Monica Puig, Sloane Stephens, Eugenie Bouchard, Hyeon Chung, Bernard Tomic, Petra Kvitova and Grigor Dimitrov all frocked up for the green carpet (fake grass) event at the outdoor aviary area of Crown.
Jesinta Franklin, Ruby Rose and Jordan and Zac Stenmark were also at the party.
“It is back to the room and just focus on relaxing and having a good dinner,” Caroline Wozniacki told Confidential when asked if she’d be partying.
“I’ll grab a tea or something really chill.”
Wawrinka took a similar approach.
“I am here to play tennis, to hopefully win some matches,” he said. “I am a professional athlete. I try to do the best for me. You need to know when is a good time to do it (party). I did it once when I won here, I really enjoyed Melbourne by night. I don’t remember much from that night. I barely slept before doing the press the next day.”
He added: “It is nice to go into the city or even go one afternoon to the beach, the rest you need to focus your energy on your tennis.”
Stephens came to Australia on December 26 and has spent time doing “tourist things”.
“I went to the movies, I saw Aquaman,” she said, wearing a Michael Jackson T-shirt which was “my last good outfit”.
Tomic joked he might have a drink although he was spotted leaving the party less than an hour after arriving.
“I am never too fussed,” he said. “I am always the same, everything is cool. I enjoy myself all the time. I will probably end up drinking.”
The 26-year-old said he was single and “wished” there were some glamour women he could meet at the party.
