Morning TV show Studio 10 has been thrown into chaos after one of its hosts has tested positive to coronavirus.
Father of three Tristan MacManus tested positive to Covid using a rapid antigen test after wrapping his shift on air on Wednesday, forcing co-host Sarah Harris into isolation also.
Former Bachelor Matthew ‘Matty J’ Johnson and reporter Lachlan Kennedy are filling in for the pair.
“Network 10 can confirm that Tristan MacManus tested positive to Covid-19 via a rapid antigen test on Wednesday afternoon,” a statement from 10 read. “Tristan was asymptomatic and has been in self-isolation since returning a positive result. Tristan will remain in isolation pending the result of a PCR test.
The statement continued: “Network 10 has activated its Covid safe plan, working in line with the current NSW Health Matrix, relevant guidelines and regulations to ensure the health and safety of all staff. As a precaution Sarah Harris will self-isolate until she receives the result of her PCR test. Network 10 has contingency plans in place to ensure the impact on its program schedule is minimal. The health, safety and welfare of all staff and the wider community remains Network 10s number one priority.”
Daniel Doody meanwhile is reading news while Narelda Jacobs is on leave and Stevie Jacobs has taken over the light entertainment segments. Entertainment editor Angela Bishop is also on leave.
Appearing from their respective homes, MacManus and Harris appeared upbeat.
“I am back sleeping in a spider-man bed for the first time since I was 12 years old,” MacManus joked. “Yesterday when we came into work, I was feeling a bit shady. I was really tired and hadn’t slept the night before and was really cold. I put it down to the fact I’ve got three kids.”
He continued: “As the day went on I started to feel better but I thought it would be the responsible thing to take a RAT test at home, which I did and unfortunately it came up positive.”
Harris joked that she felt like she’d “won the lottery” watching the show from home with “barely any makeup on”.
She explained that she had taken a rapid antigen test on Sunday, saying she had driven around Sydney trying to find available stock. Her first two tests came up negative while a third this morning registered a faint line that could mean she too has Covid.
“There is the faintest little line,” she said. “I have been looking it up on the internet because apparently that is all you can really do, if there is a line there, you have to isolate until you are clear.”
