Sabo Skirt designer Thessy Kouzoukas marries FitazFK’s Georgio Batsinilas in a stunning Greek wedding

In the perfect ending to their struggle to start a family, Brisbane designer Thessy Kouzoukas and Georgio Batsinilas have tied the knot in a stunning outdoor ceremony in Greece, alongside baby daughter Zani.

BRISBANE couple Thessy Kouzoukas and Georgio Batsinilas have tied the knot in a stunning rustic outdoor ceremony on the Greek island of Kythira.

Kouzoukas, co-owner of Brisbane fashion powerhouse Sabo Skirt, walked down an aisle set out in the middle of a field behind her 11-month-old daughter Zani and in front of 193 guests, 140 of whom had flown from Brisbane.

Sabo Skirt co-owner and sister in law Yiota Kouzoukas, who is also a new mum, was among the bridesmaids.

“It’s a really nice feeling knowing everyone cares that much to spend that time and money to come to Greece. It is a long way,” Kouzoukas said prior to leaving Brisbane for the wedding.

“The wedding is more like Tuscany vibes. It’ll be really vintage and rustic.”

Kouzoukas and Batsinilas, co-owner of Brisbane’s FitazFK app and gym, had put off their wedding since 2017 in order to focus on falling pregnant after the then 27-year-old fashion designer underwent a series of surgeries to remove ruptured cysts in her ovaries, caused by severe endometriosis, and her fallopian tubes.

Fearing they would never have a child, they began IVF and Kouzoukas fell pregnant with Zani in their second round.

“It (the wedding) will be the icing on the cake. I still can’t believe that A, we are getting married and B, we have a child,” she said, with Batsinilas adding “It makes it so much more emotional”.

Kouzoukas, who has lost more than 20kg since giving birth last year, wore a custom dress she’d worked on with Sydney couture designer Leah Da Gloria, while Zani’s flower girl dress was made to match.

She had her last dress fitting in late May and made some changes to the design, leaving no room for movement when she picked it up last month.

“She absolutely has nailed it. All of her dresses are sensational,” Kouzoukas said.

Some of Batsinilas’ family still in lives in Kythira, his hometown, with his grandad, aunties and uncles meeting Zani for the first time at the wedding.

A group of friends had flown into Rhodes, where Kouzoukas’ family is from, the week prior for pre-wedding celebrations while the couple will now head off on a two-week honeymoon around the Greek Islands.

“Zani will be in Kythira where his family is with his mum, so we can have that time together straight after the wedding and then we will continue our honeymoon with her in the Greek Islands as well after that,” she said.
