Netball star Laura Geitz gives birth to fourth child

Former Diamonds and Firebirds captain Laura Geitz has announced the birth of her fourth child, Pippa Goldie Gilbride.

Netball legend Laura Geitz announced the birth of her fourth child on Saturday afternoon.

The former captain of both the Netball Australia national team and Queensland Firebirds posted three shots of her family’s latest addition, a baby girl named Pippa Goldie Gilbride.

The Instagram post showed three shots of the newborn, the first soon after the birth with Pippa in a pastel knitted beanie while cradled in Geitz’s arms as her husband Mark Gilbride kissed her on the forehead.

The second showed Geitz and Pippa surrounded by her older siblings and the third a sleeping Pippa in Geitz’s arms while holding her father’s finger.

“Welcome to our world, you are already loved beyond measure,” the caption read. ️

Australian sporting stars congratulated the family in the comments including Queensland-born cricket star Chris Lynn who wrote “Congrats legends!!!”

“Congratulations Geitzy & Mark. Gorgeous addition to your family. Hope you’re all going well,” commented fellow netballer for Australia Nat Butler (nee Medhurst).

Australian Sevens union player Teagan Levi and former national netball player Madison Browne added to the congratulatory chorus.

“Welcome to the world Pippa. You are going to be loved so much,” commented Ms Browne

Last July Geitz announced she was expecting a younger sibling to Barney, Franky, and Billie Mae.

Prior to the birth of her third child Geitz told The Courier-Mail: “It was a dream of mine to have a house full of kids and watch them grow and be great friends.”

She and Mr Gilbride now live in the outer Brisbane suburb of Brookfield, with two sons, Barney, 5, and Franky, 3, and daughter Billie Mae, 1.

Geitz was considered one of Australia’s finest netballers, having brought Australia one gold and two silvers at Commonwealth Games, and two Netball World Championships.
