Staff at a Brisbane boutique jewellery store were shocked to learn they had served Hollywood A-lister Matt Damon without even realising.
It was early Saturday afternoon when Damon, his wife Luciana Barroso and a teenage girl – thought to be the couple’s eldest daughter together, Isabella – strolled casually into Molten Store on James St, Fortitude Valley.
The three browsed around the store, with staff later saying Damon showed interest in a horse pendant, before leaving without making a purchase.
The only horse pendant listed on the store’s website is a simple gold necklace with a price tag of $1400.
After being shown photos, sales staff at the shop told The Sunday Mail they had not recognised Damon when he was there.
“I didn’t know who he (Damon) was yesterday before they (colleagues) told me about him, but now I won’t forget,” staffer Indigo said.
Unbelievably the star went unnoticed, despite the Molten team earlier joking about whether he would come in after they heard he was in the area.
Another attendant, Soraya, was on her break at the time and was devastated she missed a celebrity moment.
“We knew he was on the street, he was at the QA Hotel yesterday, someone served him for coffee at the hotel and we were like what if he comes in, we can sell him a ring,” she said.
“I put it in our email yesterday saying he didn’t come in today, rude, but maybe tomorrow.
“(I’m) devastated; well we are honoured that he chose to come in and support local businesses.”
The team are hoping Damon will return to the store, and this time they say there is no way they won’t realise who it is.
“Yes, definitely, we want him to come back in,” Soraya said.
The star on Friday attended a domestic violence charity lunch at The Calile Hotel with his wife.
It is not known how long the actor and his family will stay in Brisbane.
He has been filming Thor: Love and Thunder in Sydney with good friend Chris Hemsworth, with whom he has spent much time in Byron Bay and southeast Queensland in recent years.
