Married At First Sight’s Mark Scrivens mysterious past as a cop

He’s been open about his past in the military, but why hasn’t this Married At First Sight contestant owned up to his past as an officer with the Australian Federal Police?

Mystery surrounds the reason why Married At First Sight contestant Mark Scrivens has not acknowledged his previous job as an officer with the Australian Federal Police.

The 42-year-old has been vocal about his time in the military many years ago, as well as his current occupation as a personal trainer.

On the show his occupation is referenced as "ex-army" with strangely no mention of the police.

Scrivens refused to speak to Confidential while Channel 9 and production company Endemol Shine would not provide clarity on why his previous occupation has been overlooked.

Channel 9 also refused to answer whether or not they had known about the former cop’s stint in law enforcement and if Scrivens had disclosed the information during the selection process.

Scrivens was married to single mother of three Ning Surasiang.

Their relationship on the show has been rocky, with Surasiang shocking viewers with her bluntness while the two were still at the altar.

“I’m only here for the food and the drink,” was one of the first things she said to her new husband.

Since then the two have slowly grown closer and stronger, aside from an argument when Scrivens put his bride through a personal training session.

Surasiang believed he was too harsh on her, while Scrivens became frustrated that she wasn’t taking the session seriously.

Last night Surasiang broke down again when Scrivens grilled her about their intimacy — or lack thereof.

“Why haven’t we had sex? Why haven’t we?” he questioned as he had lunch with his wife and her friends.

The show is currently in the wife homestays, where the husbands stay at the women’s homes and see if they fit into their normal lives.
