MARRIED At First Sight “groom” Mike Gunner has come out swinging at SEA FM breakfast hosts Dan Anstey, Ben Hannant and Heather Maltman’s fill-in, Bella Frizza, after the presenters joked that the MAFS star was “being flirty” at a recent SEA FM party.

Initially on the show this morning to speak about the controversial dinner party drama that erupted between Gunner and MAFS co-star Jessika Power, the subject quickly turned from talk of the show to Gunner’s current love life, and the apparent sparks between he and Frizza, despite still being “married” to Heidi Matchman on the Channel 9 dating show.

“Mike it’s all good what’s happening on the show, but there was another love affair that unfolded right before our eyes at the SO GC Summer Party when you and Bella Frizza first saw each other,” said Anstey.

“I mean, did she leave you alone at all, all night Mike? Because she put up about 17,000 photos of you.”

Frizza, a former season three MAFS “bride” chimed in.

“There was just the one, wasn’t there Mike?”, she said.

While the radio hosts were clearly having some fun with the MAFS star, Gunner was clearly unimpressed.

“I’d love to take that up with you, actually. You invited me to an event, we take one photo together and suddenly everyone’s talking about it like we’re together.”

Laughing, Hannant chimed in to the conversation with, “That’s how we do it!” adding that like the producers on the Channel 9 social experiment show, they too, are looking for a juicy angle to promote.

“Yeah, not sure I was a fan of that quite frankly… hearing you guys say that we’re together… that’s inaccurate and you knew it.”

Still seeing the comedic side of things, the breakfast team erupted into laughter again, but the mood quickly turned sour.

“You’ll have to explain to me how that’s funny, but that’s alright. Moving on,” said Gunner before adding: “Can you see I’m not in the mood for this, this morning?”

Attempting to steer the tense conversation elsewhere, Anstey then asked the Gold Coaster whether he was still in a relationship with Latcham, outside of the show.

“You know I can’t answer that. If you and your listeners are invested in the show, far be it for me to ruin the ending for you.”

But chat quickly turned back to his encounter with Frizza, with the SEA FM boys once again probing Gunner about his “flirty” behaviour at the party.

“Were you being a bit flirty?”, asked Hennant.

“No. Absolutely not. I was there and I can say with sincerity that I wasn’t,” Gunner replied.

Awkwardly, Frizza was asked whether it felt flirtatious from her end.

“Um no, we were just catching up,” she said.

Obviously irritated by the conversation, Gunner then came out swinging at the hosts.

“I’ve been at the receiving end of a lot of criticism and if you think I’m just going to lay down and cop a kicking and let everyone tee off on me, at some point I’ll put my hand up and say, ‘You know what? Enough’s enough,” he said.

With the conversation growing increasingly tense, Anstey attempted to diffuse the situation.

“Let me come and meet you halfway,” he began.

“If we did anything that annoyed you, I apologise on our end because we genuinely thought that you and Fizz together was a bit of fun.

“We don’t know where you’re standing in your relationship [with Heidi], and that’s why this is confusing, Mike, because you can’t actually tell us whether you’re with someone or not.

“We apologise if we might have overstepped the mark there, sorry about that.”

Since the awkward segment was aired, Frizza has been flooded with messages of support from Instagram followers, after both Anstey and Hennant said on air that Frizza was “a great catch.”

“Honest to God you are so beautiful and any guy would be lucky to have you,” wrote one follower.

“I second that message, you are amazing Bella,” wrote another.
