AUSTRALIA says yes to comedian and author David Walliams.
Made famous by the hilarious Little Britain series, Walliams was in Brisbane to promote his children’s books including the latest, Awful Auntie, and fans turned out in their thousands.
He said he never tired of fans asking to hear the catchphrases from the famous sketch series.
“I wouldn’t say I love it, but I am incredibly grateful every day of my life to be involved in a show that successful,” he said.
“It’s amazing that it’s something that people still care about.”
Walliams said while there were no plans for more Little Britain at the moment, the future held many possibilities.
“It is a question that I get asked most days, is there going to be any more,” he said.
“I never like to say never. I would like to do something, some day with some of the characters.
“I do miss playing them. They are all part of you, they are all an expression of you.”
On his second visit to Australia, the artist said he was still blown away by the reaction of fans. “Last time, I was here for six weeks and could not believe the turnout. This time it has been the same. It is amazing,” he said.
An actor, comedian and judge on Britain’s Got Talent, Walliams said writing was his favourite job.
“There is something special about being an author,” he said.
“While I have written Little Britain with Matt (Lucas), this is different.”
He appeared in his “World of Walliams” show in Brisbane yesterday.
