Kendall Gilding fields fashion tips from Margot Robbie

KENDALL Gilding will channel fellow Queensland beauty Margot Robbie during this year’s Channel 7 Brisbane Racing Carnival.

The Channel 7 presenter said the Gold Coast glamour turned Hollywood starlet was her muse when it came to all things fashion and beauty for the four-week event, which kicks off with the KIRIN Doomben 10,000 on Saturday, May 12.

“She has really pulled back with her fashion and makeup-wise she goes with less of an overdone look,” Gilding said.

“Her style is simple and feminine and she knows how to let a few details speak for themselves.”

With fashion a favourite hobby for Gilding, who is acting as a carnival ambassador for the second year running, Treasury Brisbane Ladies Oaks Day was a calendar highlight.

“I love that feminine classic theme,” she said. “Aside from your wedding day, getting dressed up for races is dressy as it gets — you can’t leave a single detail to chance.

“It (Ladies Oaks Day) is also when The Birdcage officially kicks off and it feels like a warm-up to Stradbroke Day — it has all the ingredients for the big event but is bit more fun.”

Gilding will be mixing business with pleasure for each of the race days, with her duties including hosting BRC TV on each of the race days, kicking off The Chairman’s Club lunches, live broadcasts and interviews in The Birdcage.

“They’re long days but it’s definitely fun,” she said.
