Today show anchor Karl Stefanovic and wife Jasmine are selling their Sunshine Beach home because they can only use it a few weeks a year.
The pandemic’s border restrictions and Stefanovic’s commitments to Today and 60 Minutes mean they only spent five weeks there in the past two-and-a-half years.
The Stefanovics intend to buy again on the Sunshine Coast at some point, most likely near Noosa’s up-market Hastings St.
The couple paid $3.5 million for the European-inspired beach house in 2019, and have spruced it up with a big-spending makeover.
Real estate agents have told Stefanovic it could fetch as much as $7.5 million with property prices soaring in the Noosa-Sunshine Beach region.
The refurbishment was designed by Jasmine’s sister Jade Yarbrough.
The couple redesigned the four-bedroom, four-bathroom beach house and much of the renovation was carried out during the pandemic.
Shoe designer Jasmine’s aim was to take architectural influences from their travels, including hotels Il san Pietro, Positano, Hotel Costes in Paris and Villa Brunella in Capri.
Stefanovic, said to earn close to $2 million a year, said the couple were selling with a heavy heart.
“We purchased the property on Seaview Terrace just before the pandemic hit,’’ he said.
“We’ve added a teenage retreat, a bathroom and a wine cellar. It’s a really beautiful slice of Sunshine Beach paradise. The views are incredible and we just love the people and area.
“The walks around the headlands are unbelievable. After we moved in Kevin Rudd and Gina Rinehart bought in the same street and neighbourhood.
“The reality though is I can’t get away from work in Sydney nearly enough and the logistics of coming in and out of Queensland have been challenging.
“Eventually we will come back to Noosa when we have more time. If we can afford it. It’s the best beach community anywhere.’’
The house is being marketed through Tom Offerman Real Estate and the agent is Michael McComas.
