Ironman Matt Poole, expecting a child with Tammy Hembrow, to announce retirement

Ironman Matt Poole is set to quit the sport as he prepares for parenthood with his Insta influencer partner Tammy Hembrow.

Ironman great Matt Poole is set to retire from the sport as he prepares to welcome a child with his partner, Instagram mega-influencer Tammy Hembrow.

The Gold Coast legend has called a media conference for Wednesday to announce he’s hanging up his racing kit after 15 years as a professional competitor.

Renowned for his rock star image, including tattoos and dyed pink hair, Poole will retire after a stellar career that has included winning the 2017 Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain championship and finishing runner-up in the 2019 Coolangatta Gold.

He is a two-times Australian representative and has competed for some of Australia’s most successful surf clubs including Mooloolaba, Kurrawa and Northcliffe.

Hembrow, a fitness and fashion influencer with almost 14 million Instagram followers, announced in November that she and Poole were engaged.

A month later, the couple revealed that they were expecting their first child.

The final rounds of the Nutri-Grain Ironseries will be held at Kurrawa from this Thursday.
