THIS is the exclusive first look at the TV miniseries of the year, the Paul Hogan biopic that began filming in Brisbane this week.
Queensland actor Josh Lawson bears quite a resemblance to the Australian icon.
The production took over South Bank yesterday as scenes featuring the 1987 Academy Awards, at which Hogan was a co-host during the height of his fame in the United States, were filmed.
Brisbane’s QPAC played host for the re-enactment of the 59th Oscars where the Crocodile Dundee star famously lit up a cigarette as he posed for photographers and greeted the A-list audience with “G’day peers”.
Lawson donned the same white dinner jacket and bow tie with a baby blue shirt and black pants. Lawson has starred in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues and the US Showtime series House of Lies.
Lawson and former Packed to the Rafters star Ryan Corr, who stars as Hoge’s sidekick John “Strop’’ Cornell, were seen hanging out in between takes, laughing and chatting as they ran lines with a crew member.
