ED Kavalee is leaving the Triple M breakfast show.
The popular presenter announced on air on Wednesday morning that he would not be returning to co-host the Brisbane radio show alongside Greg “Marto” Martin and Robin Bailey next year.
Kavalee, who welcomed his first child with wife Tiffany Hall last month, will move back to Melbourne to spend time with his partner and newborn son Arnold.
The breakfast trio also announced Kavalee would be replaced in 2018 by comedian Lawrence Mooney, who filled in for Kavalee while he was on paternity leave.
Kavalee, who has been behind the microphone of the Brisbane breakfast show for the past four years, will stay with Southern Cross Austereo as well as keeping up his other commitments such as television show Have You Been Paying Attention?
Mooney, aka “The Moonman”, said he was looking forward to joining the team but noted that Kavalee was leaving “some big shoes to fill”.
Triple M Brisbane’s Content Director David Rymer said Mooney, who is already a regular contributor, would “bring a brilliant injection of dry, quick comedy to the show”.
“It’s the stuff we are famous for and it’s why our listeners tune in,” Rymer said.
