No wonder Dame Edna Everage is looking so gorgeous. There’s a new man in her life.
On the eve of Dame Edna, My Gorgeous Life — her first Australian tour since 2013 — the Queen’s confidant and Godmother to royal baby Archie named the love interest who will bring her even closer to the throne.
“His name is Thomas Markle. He is the father of little Meghan,” Dame Edna gushed in Sydney on Wednesday.
“We haven’t committed acts of immodesty yet. But he’s a sweetheart and if I do tie the knot with Tommy I will be 17th in line for the throne.”
Dame Edna insisted her fans had forced her out of retirement and she didn’t need the money.
“I’ve got a little bit tucked away,” she said.
As for Barry Humphries, Dame Edna is in litigation with her erstwhile manager over his “serial embezzlement”. Dame Edna, My Gorgeous Life kicks off next week in Canberra.
The show comes to Sydney’s Darling Harbour Theatre from September 28 and the Coliseum Theatre West HQ from December 18.
