CHANNEL 9 has finally confirmed Brisbane socialite Davina Rankin will appear in the next season of Married At First Sight, revealing the first look at the blushing bride in an extended promo that started airing this week.
The model, designer and personal trainer, who has more than 244,000 Instagram followers, will be one of 20 people looking for love on next year’s season of the show.
Rankin, who describes herself on Facebook as an “international model”, owns her own women’s personal training studio at Hawthorne, co-founded a fashion label and is well-known on the Brisbane social scene.
She is also no stranger to reality television, having appeared on Channel 7’s First Dates in March 2016.
Rankin was previously linked to Brisbane businessman Jordan Grives after they appeared in several Instagram posts together. She has also posted with Dean McCarthy, who was cast as a “fake” housemate on Big Brother Australia, a stunt by producers to drive ratings and controversy with the original 12 housemates.
Rankin will not be the only familiar face appearing on the series.
A MAFS insider told Confidential “at least half of them are in it to get their face on TV”.
The insider also said one of the husbands, who is believed to be a man in his 50s, was friends with a contestant from the last series, who he told he had no problem finding women to date.
Another source revealed one of the younger grooms had also dabbled in reality fame in the past.
Rankin obviously tuned in to MAFS before signing up, having taken to Facebook to comment on last season’s villain Andrew Jones: “Watching this makes me feel so ill! Jonesy you are an absolute flog mate. I would be swinging!”
Weddings were filmed in several locations around the country, including Queensland, with the new season scheduled to be aired in the first half of 2018.
