Speaking to Confidential about Channel 10’s new show which starts next Sunday, Gunsberg said the 18 singles were competitive and took “forthright action” to win affection and stay on the show.

“Everyone is smoking hot and they are all single – you do the maths,” he said of physical intimacy at the resort.

Osher Gunsberg says contestants on Bachelor in Paradise are not afraid to be foward to stay in the game.

“There are definitely times when someone new comes in and maybe two ladies have eyes for the guy, or two guys have eyes for the same lady, and time is ticking so people start to make a move. You don’t want to leave so you definitely see some forthright action on behalf of men and women.”

While Gunsberg said there was definitely real love on the show, he added: “It also wouldn’t be a Bachelor show if there wasn’t heartbreak.”

The format of Bachelor in Paradise means the power of the rose ceremony shifts between the men and women each time, and anyone not in a couple is sent home, which leads to a musical chairs-type race at cocktail parties to ensure they are coupled up. Gunsberg said singles were constantly added to the mix.

In a promo for the series, a man is shown proposing, but Gunsberg hinted that he was surprised when he saw the ad. “I thought, ‘wow, it really seems like someone is asking that’, so I guess so. When have adverts lied to us?” he said.

Cast member Apollo Jackson, 25, recently told Confidential at least three couples were still dating after the series, hinting that Keira Maguire and Jarrod Woodgate were among them.
