TENILLE Favios says she was “shocked and disappointed” when Nathan Favro dropped her one week after giving her a commitment ring in the Bachelor in Paradise finale.
The Brisbane flight attendant was left questioning Sydney-based Favro’s intentions for the Channel 10 dating show when, a week after they exchanged rings, he “friendzoned” her during a meet up in Byron Bay.
“We would speak on the phone every day, there were kiss emojis saying he missed me and can’t wait to see me. So I thought it was really positive,” Favios told Confidential.
“He invited me to go to Byron so I drove down to see him. When I got out of the car he was like a different Nathan.”
“I got a peck kiss …. a kiss your grandma would give you at Easter, and within 24 hours he told me he saw me as a friend.”
She added: “I was so convinced he liked me, giving me a ring. I was so shocked and disappointed and so upset. I was thinking ‘was any of that real?’ It’s been one week, nothing’s happened and then I’m friendzoned.”
Favios said she got little response from Favro over the six months since filming wrapped.
“He contacted me one week before the show aired saying ‘hey, how you been? I think it’s really important we are still friends’,” she said.
Having now watched the show back she realised Favro was “not as genuine” as she thought and she was still confused as to why he gave her a ring.
“It’s hurtful because you are playing with people’s emotions,” she said.
Favios, who is currently single, was also the subject of controversy for Ivan Krslovic’s aggressive and controlling behaviour when it came to her speaking with other men throughout the series.
“It was very shocking to see parts I wasn’t around for, things like punching the wall and saying ‘she’s mine’ and ‘don’t play with my stuff’. It was full on and shocking to see. It was hard,” she said.
“It looked poor on my behalf not standing up to him and saying this behaviour is completely unacceptable.”
She said Krslovic had become a good friend and had reached out to apologise after seeing the episodes air.
“I can see he is remorseful. He’s shocked and embarrassed and he apologised and he understands exactly where he went wrong,” she said.
