QUEENSLAND actor Romy Poulier says while she did enter The Bachelor to find love, she was “aware of the perks” for her career.

The 30-year-old is listed as a photoshoot director on the show but, as reported by The Courier-Mailearlier this month, she has been working as an actor for the past decade. In that time she’s made a number of trips to Los Angeles where she had even signed with US management.

Poulier, who splits her time between Brisbane and Sydney, said she expected backlash from viewers.

“I realise it is a TV show and with that comes a profile, so it is definitely something that can help me (in my career) but in saying that I was there for love,” she told Confidential, adding that actors don’t always think favourably about reality stars.

“They were the ones who reacted the most to me going on the show,” she said.

“I’ve worked really hard for everything I have achieved and to put that at risk and to become a reality star when you trained your whole life to be a drama actor was a big decision.

“It was the last few days it was open for application. I was 29 and single. I thought I could incorporate the two — my love of TV and my love of hot men.”

Poulier, who appeared on 2011 TV series Terra Nova and The Elephant Princess, previously dated former Brisbane AFL footballer Scott Harding and well-known actor Hugo Johnstone-Burt, with whom she travelled to Los Angeles for pilot season and joined him on the red carpet for the premiere of San Andreas.

She last returned from LA two years ago.

“I didn’t book a job there but I was pretty close a few times. I I found it draining towards the end, both financially and emotionally,” she said.

“I’m still dabbling in acting and I’m creating my own project at the moment.”
