Rupert Grint has added fuel to the rumours that Emma Watson and Tom Felton are more than friends, saying “sparks flew” between the pair on set.

Emma Watson coins 'new woke term'

Rupert Grint is serving up a juicy behind-the-scenes memory from his days as a star of the Harry Potter franchise.

The actor, who will next star in The Servant for Apple TV+, told Entertainment Tonight that he remembers “sparks” flying between his co-stars Emma Watson and Tom Felton.

“There was always something (between Watson and Felton),” Grint, 31, said. “There was a little bit of a spark”.

“But we were kids. It was like any kind of playground romance,” he added.

Grint went on to describe his own time on set, however, as “spark-free”.

He also admitted to not watching any of the eight Harry Potter films during his time working on them only recently did he watch Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.

“You watch us grow up through all the awkward teenage stages, and it’s not something that I’ve ever really wanted to revisit,” Grint confessed as to why he’d never seen any of them. “It was a great experience, and I’ve got great memories.”

Watson and Felton sparked dating rumours in August after sharing an intimate picture from a holiday together.

The actors, who played Hermione Granger and Draco Malfoy in the franchise, were pictured cosied up in their pyjamas during a trip to South Africa

Felton, 31, appeared to be showing Watson, 29, how to play the guitar and captioned the Instagram snap “quick learner x”.

Watson later shared an Instagram story featuring a beach photo of Felton wearing a vest emblazoned with the words “women do it better”.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower actress also shared a sweet selfie with Felton in November 2018, along with a video of the pair riding on his long board together.

“Tom’s @origin_series is out on the 14th November,” she captioned the post.

“Congrats dear friend. #TFToleratingmysubparskatingskillssince1999.”

And before the gushing Instagram posts, Watson spoke openly about having a “terrible crush” on Felton when they were filming the first few Harry Potter movies.

“Between the ages of 10 and 12 I had a really terrible crush on Tom Felton,” she told The Jonathan Ross Show in 2012.

“We love a bad guy, and he was a few years older and he had a skateboard and that just did it really,” Watson said at the time.

“He used to do tricks on it. He was so cool. He totally knew (I had a crush).

“And the thing is, he’d turn and go, ‘Oh, I see her in a younger sisterly way.’ And it just broke my heart, still does.”

But despite all the speculation, ET reported that Watson and Felton are just good friends and not dating.

Earlier this month, the actress discussed her unusual relationship status in an interview with British Vogue, describing herself as “self-partnered”.

She told British Vogue: “I was like, ‘Why does everyone make such a big fuss about turning 30? This is not a big deal.’

“Cut to 29, and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, I feel so stressed and anxious.’

“And I realise it’s because there is suddenly this bloody influx of subliminal messaging around.

“If you have not built a home, if you do not have a husband, if you do not have a baby, and you are turning 30, and you’re not in some incredibly secure, stable place in your career, or you’re still figuring things out — there’s just this incredible amount of anxiety.”

She added: “I never believed the whole ‘I’m happy single’ spiel. I was like, ‘This is totally spiel.’

“It took me a long time, but I’m very happy (being single). I call it being self-partnered.”

Watson was most recently romantically linked to tech CEO Brendan Wallace.

Before that she dated Glee star Chord Overstreet — but they are believed to have split in May 2018.

They met at the end of 2017, shortly after her two-year relationship with Silicon Valley tech manager William Knight ended.
