Harry and Meghan’s demands could create ‘chaos’ at Charles’ coronation

The Sussexes’ demands for King Charles’ coronation apparently include a place on the Buckingham Palace balcony.

The Duke of Sussex has demanded that his children are invited to King Charles’s coronation and that he and Meghan Markle are allowed onto the palace balcony amid a row over his security arrangements when Prince Harry visits the UK.

The Sussexes are allegedly demanding a place on the Buckingham Palace balcony and an acknowledgment during the festivities of their two children – these requests and the couple’s apparent holding out until their wishes are granted, may throw the historic event into “chaos,” royal insiders say.

The absence of the two youngsters from the event had “never been a bone of contention,” according to the source, because of the “restlessness and tantrums” typical of small children.

But Prince Harry and Ms Markle are also reportedly pushing to be included on the palace balcony on the big day — a royal protocol reserved strictly for working members of the royal family only.

It comes as Prince Harry has been asked to give 28 days’ notice of his planned trips to the UK so that his security requests can be considered by the Home Office.

The angry prince is said to be fuming that the Home Office committee responsible for royal security decide his safety needs after he stepped back from royal duty.

The Duke won a judicial review against the Home Office’s decision to reject his family’s automatic security in September 2021 for the memorial events for Diana, Princess of Wales, describing them as “patchy, disjointed and inadequate”, according to the Telegraph UK.

The prince is in the midst of negotiating whether to attend King Charles III coronation on May 6.

Royal insiders say he is bargaining for his children the princes and princess of Sussex Archie and Lilibet to take part in the coronation.

Details of the dispute between the Duke and the Home Office over his future security arrangements were disclosed in legal documents relating to Prince Harry’s libel claim against the Mail on Sunday, according to the UK Daily Telegraph.

It was allegedly triggered by a “false claim” concerning his willingness to pay for his own police protection when he visits the UK.

The Californian based Duke is suing Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL) over an article published last February concerning his legal challenge against the Government’s decision to deny him and his family the right to automatic protection.

The Duke won a judicial review against the Home Office’s decision to deny his family automatic security in September 2021.

A date for the hearing has not yet been set, but the documents released as part of his legal fight with the British newspaper highlight his resentment of the British tabloids.

In a summary of his claim against the Home Office’s Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (RAVEC), Prince Harry’s lawyers say he is “gravely concerned about his safety and security during future trips to the UK” and he and his family have “been subject to intense media scrutiny, hostile social media attention, and targeting by violent extremists due to (among other things) the [Duke’s] ten years of military service in the British Army, the Duchess of Sussex’s race and their involvement in charitable and other social justice initiatives.”

His legal representative says the requirement to give 28 days notice of a visit generates uncertainty and puts his safety at risk.
